After almost 20 years of marriage, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire separated. The couple announced their separation in a joint statement on Instagram on August 2, 2023, writing that after “many meaningful and difficult conversations,” they decided to separate. The statement continued, “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other for everything we have built and will continue to build.” The couple share three children together – Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien.
Despite their split, the estranged spouses have remained cordial in the public eye. Now, however, Justin has made headlines over his decision to resign as Canada’s prime minister as of January 6, 2025.
