Former President Jimmy Carter was a father to four, and a grandfather and great-grandfather to many more. Check out photos of him and his family here.

Jimmy Carter was elected as the 39th President of the United States during the 1976 election. Prior to running for national office, he was elected as the Governor of Georgia in 1971. By his side through his entire political career was his wife Rosalynn Carter, and his four children: Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy.

After losing his re-election campaign, Jimmy and Rosalynn dedicated themselves to advocacy and were strong humanitarian advocates after he left office. The former president and his wife launched the Carter Center in 1982, and the organization has worked to help people around the globe since it formed.

Rosalynn died in November 2023, the same year that her husband was admitted to hospice care. One year later, Jimmy died in December 2024.
